A land of gentle beauty and warm people, Portugal offers a distinctive Old
World flavour. Porto, the starting point for your cruise along the River of
Gold, is one of the most ancient towns in Europe and is now preserved as a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sail through the wonderful high hills in the
very heart of the most famous Porto vineyards planted in “stairs” up to 700
metres high and onwards through quaint villages and towns. A truly
delightful journey through an untouched landscape.
M.S.Magellan ***
M.S. Magellan, built in 2002, has 71 cabins. all
cabins on board are outward facing and offer a panoramic view of the
landscape. The comfortable cabins are equipped with twin beds, a shower,
washbasin and toilet and air conditioning.
The ship has tastefully furnished lounge, restaurant, bar, library, gift
shop and sundeck where you can relax and admire the landscape. Buffet
breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in a single sitting. The ship serves
a fixed menu of three course lunch and four course dinner. Please note that
tea and coffee are not complimentary with lunch and dinner.
Itinerary
| DAY 1 |
Depart London Heathrow to Porto
and transfer to MS Magellan. The ship remains moored in Porto
overnight. | | DAY 2 |
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the
city this morning, including a visit to one of the greatest wine
cellars. The ship sails after lunch to Regua where arrival will
be at 20.00 hrs. |
| DAY 3 |
After
breakfast there will be a visit to Villa Real whilst the ship
sails to Pinhao, where we join it for lunch. This afternoon we
sail through the hills in the very heart of the Porto vineyards
before arriving in Vega de Terron this evening. |

| DAY 4 |
After
breakfast there is a full day excursion to the Spanish city of
Salamanca, home to one of the oldest universities in the world.
Re-join the ship in Vega Teron for dinner. |
| DAY 5 |
This
morning we cruise to Pinhao where arrival will be after lunch.
There will be a visit to the medieval town of Lamego. Re-join
the ship in Regua and cruise to Biteos. |
| DAY 6 |
Sail to
Porto where you will disembark the ship after breakfast and
transfer to Porto Airport for your return flight to Heathrow. |
